Valerio Morlacci

Valerio Morlacci, born in 1996, Rome, Italy, holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2018, and an M.Sc. degree with honors from the same institution in 2021. During his master’s research, he focused on the synthesis of bile acid derivatives for the development of ion receptors. In 2021, he started his Ph.D. studies at the University of L’Aquila under the supervision of Prof. Laura Palombi. His research primarily centered on the development of sustainable synthetic methodologies, with a particular emphasis on the preparation of heterocyclic scaffolds using catalytic amounts of both current and supporting electrolytes. Additionally, he investigated novel electrochemical cyanation reaction pathways, a line of research he further pursued during a six-month visiting period at the University of Greenwich, UK, within Prof. Kevin Lam’s research group.

He is currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate under the supervision of Prof. Nicola Della Cà and Prof. Luca Capaldo, with his research focusing on the use of photochemical and electrochemical methods for (de)carbonylation reactions.
